What can teachers and parents do to help?Teachers and parents play a vital role in monitoring and making sure kids stay safe on the Internet. Kids never receive any formal training to use the Internet in schools, so it's up to teachers and parents so show them by example how to use it effectively. They should show them how emails that look tempting shouldn't be opened. Or websites where music isn't paid for is downloaded is illegal. Little things where they wouldn't know that it could effect them later down the road.

Parents and teachers should really make sure that students post appropriate information on social media cites. Parents should use parental blocks on website that their kids shouldn't be using. Another helpful tool is keeping computer in a space where computer time is monitored and parents or teachers can check in. Parents should be able to talk with their kids about what they post and look up on the Internet and help guide them along with helpful or informational websites. Since not every website on the Internet is reliable show the students how to find high quality research and disregard unreliable sources. Remind children that the Internet has people behind is with feelings who read what you post and whatever the child says could be harming others, which could be a form of cyber-bullying. The best thing parents and teachers do is be approachable when issues arise and be able to monitor the computer and how much time the child spends on it. The Internet needs to be shown to children, it's a giant resource and could seem overwhelming to anyone.

What should students do?
Students should take many precautions while using the Internet. They have the potential to be targeted by anyone on the Internet for viruses, cyber-bullying, by predators. The web is a dangerous place and children should understand that they are communicating with the world. Anything is possible, children should post things on social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, these types of posts stay on the Internet forever and could come back and haunt you later. Visit resources on cyber-bullying and netiquette and see what kind of tips they offer on keeping students safe.

Some tips from a netiquette guide are a great resource, they go into depth with some information but there are a few tips for students when staying safe on the Internet. I also firmly believe in these things such as never give away your full name, address etc. This releases private information and can become a safety hazard, if someone begins prank calling you or showing up to your home to scare you. The possibilities of circumstances are endless. Another tip is be weary of those offering you something for nothing in return, chances are this is a scam and requires a credit card. And finally realize that people online can become anyone they please to be, this means don't trust anyone you meet on the Internet. This is dangerous, there are predators and people who would harm you out on the world and most likely are out on the Internet too. Never meet someone face-to-face that you've meet online.

Future Trends
From my research, I believe that things will remain the same for a while when it comes to the Internet. We all use it for so many things and the chances of losing a great resource with all kinds of fast information on the go is unlikely. We are a learning driven world, always looking for constant information flow. Adults will use the Internet, this means so will children, unless a new form of technology arises and is better.
